looks good? it smells better than it looks, and tastes even better than it smells! but beware, pups, it's a dog laxative-nauseator, and a very potent one too! i begged a couple of pinches off HM, and half a day later my insides were cleaned out twice over. explosive diarrhea all over the apartment while HM was out (she had ALOT of cleaning to do when she got home), and then vomiting 10 times through the evening. boy, i was so sapped i thought i wouldn't make it to the toilet to pee, i just let go on the floor. i'm wondering why it's so potent. egg.. i can eat that. oil.. i can eat that. cheese.. heck yeah, i can eat that! potato starch.. i've never tried. or maybe it's just a combination of all these that knocked me out. i think i might let HM have the rest of it, doesn't seem to do her any harm.
...Till the cows come home
on Sunday morning we scarfed down a hasty breakfast and sped out for a walk at 7am because there was a break in the rain. see the puddles on the ground there was just about enough time to walk to the gravel pit for some off-leash running and then back before it started to rain again. i never walked so fast in my life! i didn't work off enough energy so it was zoomies and jump-on-HM-while-she's-watching-a-movie for the rest of the day. i thought the movie was long and boring... "Things we lost in the fire". HM, how about you go read a book called "Things we can cook for Chiyo" instead?
Midsummer's day is the longest day of the year, and it never gets fully dark at night. i went to Djurgarden, hoping to catch a glimpse of some festivities because dogs aren't allowed at Skansen, Stockholm's outdoor museum. but if there was any Morris dancing to be seen, we would not have noticed, because we were busy avoiding these dung bombs all over Djurgarden. yes, they are about the size of my doodies, but they were not mine! here are the culprits, waltzing all over the island desecrating the manicured lawns and pedestrian walkways. they should be locked up! or at least they should get responsible like me and make a hooman pick up after them. we escaped the landmines and went to sit at the marina on the waterfront. in a span of 15minutes, 3 people came up and asked if they have a picture or video of me. we've been here only 3 months and we've become "Interesting things to see in Stockholm" Help!
i think HM originally intended the tunnel to be some exercise for me, but i haven't been thus inclined. except on Sunday, when we found that the museum grounds near our place are pretty much deserted on sundays, perfect for some outdoor zoomies.
we've got some new furniture - a tunnel. want to bet if my head can fit through? hehe maybe Simba's or Boo's can't there, pay up! i prefer chewies to cash, i can chew them in the tunnel
the swans were not the only animals that made HM run on sunday. we were venturing deeper into the woods when suddenly HM looked down and saw 2cm-long ants. a blink later i was 4 feet up in the air and watching the trees whizzing by until we came to a gravel path out in the sun again. Simba, what do you do about ants?
i think we alarmed some sheep with all that stomping and screaming. they were basking in the sun but then they suddenly all stood up to look at us
this morning we took a hike to another nearby lake. this one was more secluded than the last, and we both smelled the swans before we saw them, yuck. no matter how nice swans look far away on the water, they are nowhere as graceful up close. hear these ones hiss and snork.
the temperature hit 19degrees celsius today, and to celebrate, we took a hike in the botanical gardens. come on, HM, you need to walk faster to catch up! can you spot me? that's a cheap trick to get a picture, HM, you know i am afraid of heights. HM needed to be back in 2 hours to collect her laundry but we figured that was plenty of time. who knew that she could get lost... in the Botanical gardens?! we weren't the only ones there at 730am in the morning. ducks were afloat, and deer were afoot. it was embarassing, but along the way i had to excuse myself behind a bush several times to relieve my upset stomach. i went to a bbq with HM yesterday and ate too much, too quickly. walking me has become a full-day affair: a walk in the morning, a brush-and-bath that lasts well into the afternoon. HM tried to make it easier for herself and decided to give me a haircut herself. *sob* it's butt-ugly and i will post no further pictures of myself until my hair grows out!
What can turn this frown upside down? Did I hear "walk"?
it has been cold and grey and wet but i still had a great weekend. i walked a little in the drizzle, until it got cold and then i took a warm nap. then the smell of something nice cooking woke me up. mmm, chicken, sweet potato and eggplant. HM and i shared a bag of sweet cherries by the balcony, indoors of course, because the wind outside was so strong it blew all our flowers over. we played fetch, rough-and-tumbled a little, and i discovered that the curtains are great fun. oops, help me out here, HM. as far as i am concerned now, life is a bed of roses :)

SOMEdog told me not to eat too much cheese/butter or i'll get fat. well, that somedog needn't worry because i am getting alot of exercise!! i walked and walked for 2 hours on saturday. HM didn't think i could go that far, the initial plan was to walk around the neighborhood, but then we got to the subway station, and one thing led to another, soon enough we finished a walking tour of downtown Stockholm. that somedog better be careful of his own weight though, all that digging in the treat drawer is not going to make you any fitter! but that somedog is right, hee hee, any pup has any spare boy hoomans that you can send over to Stockholm? if HM is otherwise occupied, i might not need to take baths every week! p.s. Boo don't get mad at me I still love you :p
i found something that tastes even better than chicken or apples... say cheeeeeeese! oh no no HM, don't blister your fingers slicing it, i can eat a wedge for dinner, and save the leftovers under the be..... ahem... in my secret hiding spot. milk is great too. on days when HM runs out of chicken, i get some bread soaked in milk for breakfast. and butter, butter makes everything taste better. and yogurt too, i would be your best friend for a day if you let me lick yogurt off the spoon. and that is no light offer, i am a very busy pup, those rawhides are not going to chew themselves. seems like all dairy tastes good, wonder when i'm going to lay my paws on that chocolate that HM hoards. maybe it's the best-tasting of them all but HM wants it all for herself.
3 more days before I go for another long walk... no matter, i can still see everything that's going on outside from my balcony. HM, i know the balcony is not dog-proofed yet but can you open the door just a titch more? that's better. and incidentally, HM has managed to murder the orchids on the balcony. room temperature and away from direct sunlight, HM, not out in the strong winds in the freezing nights and blazingly sunny afternoons. the apple cider vinegar smells nice, tastes funky, and is working magic. it stings a little but i can put up with quite alot for the sake of beauty hehheh speaking of beauty i think i might just stay away from the woods for the moment. i took a trek around the fields in the neighborhood last saturday and became this. i didn't enjoy stepping in squishy mud so i don't think i would like rolling in it :p and i certainly didn't enjoy the 2hour brushing session and 3hour bath following the walk.
what? the weekend is over?? saturday was spent watching HM pottering about the apartment mopping this, straightening that blah blah blah. i think she should do these boring chores on weekdays instead. but on sunday we went into town to shop for curtains and managed to find a store that didn't have a 'no dogs' sign in the window. not so lucky at the supermarket though. we wanted to grab some dinner on the way home but got told off quite rudely at two supermarts and HM didn't have the nerve to show her face back there that night so we had mainly bread for dinner. i think i caught something while staying at the hut. nothing too embarassing, just a slight skin problem. i had started shedding a ton since the first week in sweden, but then a day before moving out of the hut i started scratching. if i hadn't had my socks on i would have a bald spot on my side by now. and within a day of moving into the new place, horrors, i grew some brown flaky patches. HM is going to put some cider vinegar on me and try some fungicide before seeking out the vet, because her allowance has to stretch for us both and the move has cost us a ton. on a happier note, i convinced HM to take me out for a walk yesterday in spite of my bad skin. i walked and peed and ran and bunnyhopped and i led the way home all the way from the subway station with no mistake! but no pictures of me being happily crazy because apparently two hands with two of those opposable thumbs that hoomans use to lord over us pups are still not enough to handle a dog, a bag and a camera at the same time.
not only is there space for me to zoom 1001 times a day, there are so many corners for me to sleep in the new apartment. in my bed, on the carpet, under the couch, under the bed, under the desk, by the balcony, under the stove, under the shoe rack, under the toilet bowl (note to Boo, i can remember exactly where my toilet is! hee)... the one place that i can't get to but am itching to sleep on is HM's bed. it's so high that the tip of my nose barely reaches the surface and now i can't lick HM awake in the mornings. let's see if she will still be happy about this when i switch over to barking her awake. HM usually gets up at 5am, but now that it's spring and we have no curtains yet, the bright sunlight sometimes wakes her up at 4am. good for me, because then i can hand over guard duty to her and get some sleep. Bella is right, the woods are just at our doorstep, and i think there is even a lake just 10minutes walk away! i spend a good part of each morning sitting by the balcony (i can't go out on it yet because HM needs to fix the grilles so that i can't squeeze through them and fall 2 floors down) and watching birds. and then at night HM likes to squeeze with me and watch the sunset.
we moved to the new place over the weekend. Bye bye hut! Hello space! (it's messy cos we were just unpacking) and more good news. my paws are no longer swollen, they subsided the same day that they swelled up. i guess we still need to know the location of the nearest vet in case of emergencies. thank you bella for the word 'vet' in swedish, we need all the translation we can get given HM's hopeless language skills
the first flowers to appear around our neighborhood are these pretty purple ones since i'm so much closer to the ground than HM, they appear so much bigger to me they come in yellow too, if you like something chirpier the toughest thing when we go for walks is avoiding earthworms. most of the time they are dead earthworms, which are not any less disgusting. but occasionally you see a live one and here is a huge one beside HM's fat foot. i wonder what they taste like i had the dire rear last week, and then i was ok, but then today stuff came out the other way through my mouth. and i have two swollen paws too. not too sure why, maybe some bug bit me in my sleep. HM is fussing because she doesn't know what vets are called in swedish and where to find one. i hope she doesn't find one because i don't want to be poked with needles and eat icky medicine.
